"We were referred here by a community outreach liaison who disclosed that my mother has ALS. Upon meeting the director, she was misleading of what Kensington could provide for my parents, which left me disappointed beyond words.

We are sorry you felt you were misled. Our staff was not told the full extent of your parents' medical conditions from the start. When we found out the extent of care needed, we stated it was more than our facility could provide. Had we been told initially, we would have responded in that way immediately. We wish you and your parents the best at a facility that is equipped to provide the level of care needed.

"My parents lived here for a while a couple of years ago. I was familiar with Kensington Place before they moved in because I knew people who lived there. It’s a nice community of friendly people. Unfortunately, my friends tell me that the meals have gone downhill since then. Much of the food is processed and high in sodium, which is not healthy for anyone let alone old... Read More

Deb, thank you for your review. We were very fond of your parents and appreciate your perspective as both a family member and friend of Kensington. Our dining services are constantly evolving and this has never been more true than during the COVID-19 pandemic this past year+. With supply chains interrupted, many foods we formerly purchased became unavailable or were inflated to three to four times their regular price. With regard to sodium, our dining director is very aware of this issue and meets monthly with our resident-led food committee. Whenever there is an opportunity to purchase low- or no-sodium options, he does.
As it is, in a community setting we are always walking a fine line: for every resident who thinks the food is too salty, another thinks there is not nearly enough! So we continually try new recipes and cooking methods and look to our food committee to let us know how we can improve. According to our dining director (who does all the purchasing), 80 percent of our food is fresh. That said, there is always room for improvement and we are committed to doing better.
