"My sister choked while waiting to be suctioned on Monday September 2, 2024. By the time someone checked on her, she had no pulse. After 8 rounds of CPR, she was sent to the MUSC ICU. She was declared brain dead and, today September 7, 2024, she was taken off the vent and died less than 5 minutes later. If she was properly cared for, we wouldn't be burying her this week... Our residents’ wellbeing and safety is our top priority, so we were disheartened to read your reviews. While we are unable to go into detail regarding your sister’s care due to privacy laws, we want you to know that upon learning of your concerns and serious allegations, we immediately conducted a thorough internal investigation and discussed our findings with your sister’s legal representative, and ask that you speak to that individual if you would like more information. Finally, we reported your allegations to the South Carolina Department of Public Health (“DPH”), as we are required to do by law, and DPH will conduct its own independent investigation. Again, we have taken your comments very seriously, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to ensure we provide quality and compassionate care to the residents and community we serve.
